What fob programming involves

A key fob does two jobs. Its buttons lock and unlock the doors, and on many cars a transponder chip or smart key tells the immobilizer that the engine may start. Programming pairs a new or replacement fob with the car. Some systems erase every fob that is not present when a new one is paired, so bring every working fob and key, not just the new one.

Wet winters and fob trouble

Tacoma is on the wet side of the Cascades, and winter brings most of the rain. For fobs here, water is the usual enemy:
