Under § 3-107.5 of the Codified Ordinances, the Mayor or a designee can declare a snow emergency, when no vehicle may park on a snow emergency route; those routes carry "Snow Emergency Route" signs. • Rental registration. Chapter 8-511 requires annual registration of every residential rental unit, filed between October 31 and December 31 (§ 8-511.7), with Codes Bureau inspections at least every five years (§ 8-511.8). • Boarded doors. Amended § 108.2.2 of the property maintenance code (Chapter 8-107) bars covering a door or window visible from a public right-of-way with plywood, metal or other unapproved material for more than 60 days. Amended § 108.2.3 requires restoration with properly fitting frames, hardware, locks and glazing.
• Historic districts. In the six municipal historic districts, § 7-317.6 of the Zoning Code covers exterior changes visible from a public street, public alley or adjacent sidewalk. Per the guidelines, exact in-kind door repairs need no city review, storm doors need no HARB review if historic materials are not removed or altered, and changing a historic door's material or style, such as wood to steel, needs HARB review.
