Key Fob Programming in Tucson, AZ

Three things called a fob

In Tucson the word can mean three different devices, and only one of them is programmed to a car.

• The car's remote or push-button key. This is the one that gets programmed, and the work needs the vehicle itself.
• A building or gate fob. Buildings with five or more units account for 66,960 Tucson homes, and they may run their own gates, garages and lobby doors. Ask the building's management about those; a car job does not cover them.
• A parking permit. A Park Tucson permit is a sticker or hanging tag issued for one vehicle, and the city says it cannot be sublet or sold. A new car fob neither replaces one nor changes it.

Bring the car, not just the fob

Programming happens at the vehicle, so its location belongs in the request. For a car in a Park Tucson or university garage, note the garage and level. A car parked at home in Rita Ranch or Civano, planned developments on the southeast side, needs the community's name along with the street and nearest cross street. On a metered or permit block near downtown or the university, name the block and which side of the street.

Before you book

• A fob with a short range or a patchy response may just need a fresh battery, and that is the simplest cause to rule out first.
• Bring every key and fob the car already has, working or not.
• If the fob was bought used or online, mention the seller.

A cracked case, or a fob that stays dead after a battery swap, can mean a new shell or a full replacement.
