Downtown garages and East Village

For a car in a garage near the Gaslamp Quarter or Petco Park, which is one block away in East Village, a street address alone will not lead anyone to it. A car locked with the keys inside may be on any level.

• Give the garage's name and entrance street, the level, and the space number or nearest pillar.
• Say whether the garage closes at a set time or needs a validated ticket to exit.
• Phone signal can drop on lower levels, so wait near the entrance or a ramp where a call still gets through.

Residential streets and driveways

Clairemont was started around 1950 on winding streets above Mission Bay, so a cross street alone may not pin down where a car sits. Give the house number the car is parked in front of, the nearest cross street and which side of the street it is on. For a car in a private driveway or carport, say whether a gate or a locked side yard stands in the way.
