Will a smart lock fit your Austin door?

Austin leans newer than the state: per the Census Bureau's 2024 estimates, 49.8 percent of its homes date from 2000 or later. Newer doors are typically bored for today's deadbolt sizes, so a keypad deadbolt or app-controlled lock often goes in without new holes. The bolt still has to travel smoothly into the strike, because a motorized bolt stalls where a person would simply lean on the door.
