Where the car is parked

Old Louisville has eleven pedestrian-only courts, built from 1891 into the 1920s, so a car locked near one of them is on a street rather than on the court itself. Name the court, the nearest cross streets and which side of the street the car is on.

Derby Week and event parking

According to Churchill Downs, all Derby Week onsite parking is reserved in advance, and there is no re-entry into the lots. Shuttles run between the Kentucky Exposition Center and the Black Lot by the Paddock Gate, and Central Avenue was closed May 1 to 3 for the 2026 races. If your keys are locked in a car in one of the color-coded lots or at the Exposition Center, give the lot name and the row or nearest landmark, along with any access rules you were told about the lot. Because there is no re-entry, someone who leaves a lot to look for help cannot simply drive back in, so settle the lot name and where the car sits before you go.

Heat, cold and safety

Kentucky summers run warm to hot and humid, and a closed car heats up in that weather. Never leave a child or a pet in a car. If one is locked inside, call 911 first, before you contact anyone else. In hard winter cold, wait somewhere warm rather than beside the car.
