Downtown garage and event nights

The city's Downtown BGKY Parking Map shows Stadium Park Plaza, a parking structure of about 700 spaces near Bowling Green Ballpark and SKYPAC. After a Hot Rods game or a show, many drivers head for their cars at once, so the level number, the nearest stairwell and the car's color all help identify the right one. If you are unsure of the level, say so and describe what you parked near.

Campus lots and boots

Under the WKU Parking and Transportation Services boot and tow policy, a boot warning can come on or after a second enforced citation that has gone unpaid, and a vehicle with evidence of boot tampering is subject to towing. A boot is a university parking matter, not a lock problem. If a car is both locked and booted, leave the boot alone and settle it with WKU. For a car on campus, name the lot.

Snow and summer heat

After snow, city plowing begins once two inches have fallen, and residential streets are Priority D, the last of four groups. If the car is on a side street, say whether it has been plowed.

Because Kentucky summers are warm to hot and humid (NOAA), a closed car gets much hotter than the air around it. If a child or a pet is locked inside, call 911 first, in any season. If the keys are locked in with the engine running, say so.

What to send

• Where the car is: garage and level, campus lot, or street and nearest cross street
• Make, model, year and color
• Whether the keys are visible inside and whether the engine is running
• Whether anyone is inside the car

Have photo ID ready; once the door is open, the registration inside can help confirm the car is yours. Keys that are lost rather than locked inside call for car key replacement.
