A city built in stages

Rio Rancho incorporated in 1981 with about 8,200 acres and then grew by annexation: Rivers Edge and Enchanted Hills (approved by the State Municipal Boundary Commission in 1986), Northern Meadows in 1995, Mariposa in 2002, and Quail Ranch and Paradise West in 2003. An annexation year is not a build year, but the list shows that the city's neighborhoods joined at different times. Census Bureau estimates for 2024 date 50.4 percent of homes to 2000 or later, which leaves roughly half built earlier.

Ask why a lock has to go

Section 57-12-2(D) of New Mexico's Unfair Practices Act lists, among unfair or deceptive practices, stating that services, replacements or repairs are needed when they are not (item 16). If you are told a lock needs replacing, ask what is wrong with it and have the reason put on any written estimate. A bolt that drags on its strike plate is usually a lock repair job.
