Battery or programming?

A fob runs on a small coin battery, and cold cuts its output, so a fob that works in October but fails on a January morning may only need a fresh battery. Summer brings the opposite problem: a fob left on the dashboard sits in one of the hottest spots in the car.

NOAA says 2-inch extreme rain events have become significantly more common since the mid-1990s. If a fob gets soaked, take out the battery, let the case dry fully, then test it with a fresh battery.

Try a new battery first. If the car still ignores the fob, it may have lost its pairing or been damaged, and that is when programming or a replacement comes in.
