Will your door take a smart lock

That depends on the holes already bored in it. Measure the backset, the bore diameter and the door thickness before buying. Approvals and rentals

Renters should get written approval from management before installing anything. Access codes and electronic keys count as keys, so a covered landlord's log includes them.

For a registered short-term vacation rental, Development Code Section 19.9.4.F requires a working front, street-facing security camera that keeps two months of footage; multi-unit buildings with monitored common entrances are exempt. Keep a way in

Choose a model with a key cylinder or an outside battery contact, and leave a spare key with someone outside the house. Rekeying that cylinder retires older keys.
