Programming a fob gives it access to the vehicle, so we ask for proof of ownership or authorization, typically a photo ID with the registration or title in the same name. Leased or company vehicles may need the lessor's or fleet manager's approval.

Fobs bought online can be the wrong part or frequency, or already locked to another vehicle, and may not program.
If a fob stopped working, the cause may be the battery or the fob itself rather than programming.

My fob stopped working. Does it need reprogramming?

Not always. A weak battery is the most common cause, so try replacing it first. If a fresh battery does not help, the fob may need reprogramming or replacement.

Can I buy a fob online and have it programmed?

Sometimes. The fob must match your vehicle's part number and frequency, and some used fobs cannot be reprogrammed. If you can, share the listing or part number before buying and we will tell you whether it is likely to work.

Can a lost fob be disabled?
